Septembers theme in The Daily Stoic was building Fortitude and Resilience. Over all I found this section helped keep me focused and also built up my personal resolve to achieve my goals.
The readings were a constant reminder that there was more to life then our trials and struggles, and that if everything else is lost… we still have the ability (and responsibility) to control our emotional response. This ability is strengthened as we challenge ourselves physically, mentally, and emotionally.
One of the greatest things that came out of this months reading was the addition of SMASTER ( Smarter, Faster, Stronger) to our family dinner conversations.
Another highlight was the time this moths reading allowed for me to reflect on my own dependencies and crutches.
There was a deep focus on taking responsibility for your own thoughts and responses in the face of adversity.
You can read through a consolidated list of my thoughts on the September Page
Daily Journey is a collection of my thoughts from reading The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living. My objective is to gain greater control of my emotional responses by reading and sharing my thoughts on stoicism with you all everyday over the course of a next year. If you would like to explore these topics with me, and others who are seeking to gain emotional control I these articles to the Mastery of Skill closed facebook group and would love for you to join in on the conversation.
