Daily Journey – October 15th: Give People the Benefit of the Doubt

Daily Journey

When someone upsets or offends us, It can be easier to assume malice then to give people a little bit of grace. But storming through life this way will burn you out physically and emotionally.

More often then not, people are not intentionally out to make your life hard. Mistakes happen, and sometimes our default reaction is to assume the worst.

Instead, try to assume the best in people. Give it a shot and see how this simple change in perspective eases the burden on both sides of the situation.

Daily Journey is a collection of my thoughts from reading The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living.  My objective is to gain greater control of my emotional responses by reading and sharing my thoughts on stoicism with you all everyday over the course of a next year.  If you would like to explore these topics with me, and others who are seeking to gain emotional control I these articles to the Mastery of Skill closed facebook group and would love for you to join in on the conversation.
