Daily Journey – November 21st: Once is Enough, Once is Forever

We can have a hard time letting things go. Mistakes can lock themselves down in our minds and play themselves out over and over again bringing us down when I need to be strong.

On the other hand, past successes can float to the surface and give us a false sense of success in moments where we need to need to reach out for help.

We need to be able to recognize these moments when we are in them and then take steps to get out of the mental trap they bind us in. These things happened in the past, we grew from them and we learned from them.

Let those lessons be enough. Stop letting your past failures hold you down and stop riding on the back of your past success.

Daily Journey is a collection of my thoughts from reading The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living.  My objective is to gain greater control of my emotional responses by reading and sharing my thoughts on stoicism with you all everyday over the course of a next year.  If you would like to explore these topics with me, and others who are seeking to gain emotional control I these articles to the Mastery of Skill closed facebook group and would love for you to join in on the conversation.
