Book Review – Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future

This week’s book was Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future by Peter Thiel and Blake Masters.  Thiel is one of the founders of PayPal and a legend in the business of startups.  The book was engaging and full of details worth noting, without breaking too far into technical jargon and the minutia of starting a business.  Good solid advice for anyone considering going into business.

This book was recommended to me as a must read by Clay Crocker during a Boots to Business seminar.  As someone who is interested in learning as much as I can about starting a business, this was a great read.

Highlights

  • Break down of why startups fail
  • How the Pareto Principle (80/20 rule) applies to business
  • Insights into how Google, Tesla and Apple are succeeding
  • Simple application of big business principles that even small startups can apply
